What is a Trade Association?
A trade association is an organization arranged around a trade, industry or specific type of business designed to promote the common interests of the trade.
A trade association may also be known as a trade group or industry body. The association may provide resources internally to group members and encourages collaboration between companies.
A trade association may also provide external support for the industry, including lobbying and advocacy for the common interests of the trade in local, state, federal or international governments or governing bodies in an attempt to favorably influence relevant policy.
A trade association may also provide external public relations support to improve the image of an industry or business group and/or to shape public opinion based on a specific issue.
